Privacy policy

The short version

We collect what you give us when you book a tour or contact us. Booking and payment are handled by our reservations provider, Peek Pro, not by us. We do not sell your information for money.

We also use analytics to understand how the site is used, and advertising tools to measure whether our ads are worth the money. You can refuse both.

Information you give us

Booking a tour. When you book, you provide your name, email address, phone number, party size, and the tour and date you chose. This goes to Peek Pro, which processes it on our behalf. Payment card details go to Peek Pro and its payment processors. We never see or store your full card number. We do see your booking record, which we use to run your tour, to contact you about it, and to handle changes, cancellations and refunds.

Contacting us. If you email us or call the number on the site, we keep what you send so we can reply and, where relevant, attach it to your booking.

Booking through another platform. If you booked through Viator, GetYourGuide, Airbnb Experiences or Tripadvisor rather than through this site, that platform collects your information under its own privacy policy and passes us what it chooses to. In most cases that is your name and party size, and an email address the platform masks so it does not reach us directly.

Information collected automatically

Security and site delivery. Our host sets a cookie named __cf_bm, which lasts 30 minutes and exists to tell real visitors from automated traffic. The site will not work reliably without it.

Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use the site: which pages get read, which tours get looked at, and where people stop during booking. This sets cookies in your browser which hold a randomly generated identifier. Google receives your IP address, your browser and device details, and the pages you view.

Advertising and attribution. When you arrive from an ad or a campaign link, we record which one, so we can tell what actually brings people to us. This uses a cookie we set ourselves, which stores the campaign identifiers in the link you clicked, plus cookies set by Google’s advertising tools which connect an ad click to a later booking. If you book after clicking one of our ads, we also share a scrambled (hashed) version of the email address, name and phone number you entered at checkout with Google, so it can confirm which ad led to a booking. Google cannot read the original details from what we send. Outside the UK, the EEA and Switzerland we also let Google use your visit to show our ads to you later on other sites; you can turn that off with Cookie settings below or by sending the Global Privacy Control signal.

Other services that appear on our pages

Peek Pro provides the booking and checkout, at book.peek.com. When you start a booking you are handed to Peek, whose checkout runs its own analytics and error monitoring, which we neither control nor receive. Peek handles that information under its own privacy policy.

Guest reviews. The reviews on our home page come from Magpie, which aggregates them from the platforms guests left them on. We fetch them on our server on a schedule and store the text on our own site. Your browser makes no request to Magpie and Magpie sets no cookie on you.

Typefaces. The fonts on this site are served from our own server. No font provider receives a request or an IP address when you load a page.

How we use information

We use it to take and run your booking, to contact you about a tour you have booked, to answer your questions, to keep the site secure and working, and to meet our legal and tax obligations.

If you booked directly with us and gave us your email address, we may send you an occasional offer to come back for another tour. Every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link that works, and we act on it. We do not add you to that list if you booked through an outside platform.

Legal bases, for visitors in the UK and EEA

Where UK or EU law applies, we rely on: performance of a contract, to take and run your booking; legitimate interests, to keep the site secure; consent, for any analytics or advertising cookies and for marketing email, which you may withdraw at any time; and legal obligation, for records we are required to keep.

Who we share information with

We share information with our reservations provider Peek Pro and its payment processors, with our hosting provider, with the booking platform you used if you booked through one, and with professional advisers or authorities where the law requires it.

When a booking follows one of our ads, we share a hashed version of the contact details from that booking with Google for ad measurement, as described under advertising above.

We do not sell your personal information for money.

Your choices and your rights

Cookies. If you are outside the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, our analytics and advertising cookies are set when you visit, and you can turn them off at any time using Cookie settings on this page. If you are in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland, those cookies are set only if you accept them, and you can change your answer the same way. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser.

Global Privacy Control. We honour the Global Privacy Control signal as an opt-out of advertising cookies where the law requires it.

Your rights. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal information we hold about you, to get a copy of it, to correct it, to have it deleted, to opt out of targeted advertising or of any sale or sharing, and to not be treated worse for exercising any of these rights. Residents of Virginia, California, Colorado and Connecticut, among other states, and visitors from the UK, the EEA and Switzerland, have some or all of these rights.

To exercise any of them, email hello@cornerstone-tours.com with what you want and enough detail for us to find your record, such as the email address or name on your booking. We will respond within the time the applicable law allows, which is normally 45 days in the United States and one month in the UK and EEA. We may need to verify who you are first, and we will not use what you send us for verification for anything else. If we turn a request down, we will say why, and you may appeal by replying to our answer.

Bookings made through an outside platform are largely held by that platform. If we cannot fulfil your request because the information sits with them, we will tell you plainly and point you to them.

Keeping information, and where it goes

We keep booking records for as long as we need them to run the business and to meet tax and accounting requirements, which is generally seven years. Marketing contacts are kept until you unsubscribe.

Our providers, including Peek Pro, are based in the United States, so if you are in the UK or EEA your information is transferred there. Where that transfer needs a safeguard under UK or EU law, it relies on the standard contractual clauses those providers have in place.

Children

Our tours are open to families, and children come on them with an adult. The website is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from a child under 13. A booking made for a family is made by the adult booking it. If you believe a child has given us information directly, write to us and we will delete it.

Security

We use encrypted connections across the site, and our booking and payment handling sits with Peek Pro, which maintains its own security and payment card standards. No website can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise.

Changes to this policy

If we change what we collect or what we do with it, we will update this page and change the date at the top. If the change is significant, we will say so on the site rather than quietly editing the text.
